[edit] MapWith.us
This article initially did not properly define collaborative mapping and needed a rewrite which I provided. I added an excellent example of collaborative mapping: MapWith.Us, this was NOT for promotion. Someone keeps taking references to MapWith.Us out of this article. Having developed and worked with mapping tools for over a decade, I can vouch that this is not random promotion, it's an excellent example of collaborative mapping. Please leave the reference to MapWith.Us in this article, it adds value. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.40.100 (talk) 17:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- That's because your edits have been almost entirely about promoting MapWith.us in what appears to be a concerted attempt along with several other accounts to increase the company's exposure on Wikipedia. This is not in keeping with our neutral point of view or policy our policy against advertising. Especially as MapWith.us is not yet a significant player in this market place it is inappropriate to sprinkle it through articles in this way. I've removed it again. Please stop trying to fit into every article you edit. -- SiobhanHansa 18:01, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
So apparently you decide who's a major player ... If you knew anything about this subject, you would realize mapwith.us is the only player that uses overlays for collaboration. Your "sprinkling" comment is not appreciated, since it took time and effort to update articles with recent information concerning the mapping industry. It's not my fault mapwith.us has the latest innovations in this area. Please reinsert mapwith.us and apologize. It’s the right thing to do and you know it. At this point I think you’re just upset I called you on this. If you want wikipedia to be outdated, then continue with your rude behavior. BTW there are no other accounts ... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.40.100 (talk) 21:06, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- I've laid out the actions I see as a concerted effort to promote MapWith.Us at WT:WPSPAM#MapWith.Us and asked for other opinions. It's not my intention to be rude to you and I'm sorry that I came across that way. I'm simply trying to uphold some of our policies on content. -- SiobhanHansa 21:30, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
I see your point of view, my efforts may have seemed like promotion. However, MapWith.Us just happens to be the product that embodies several innovations in the mapping industry. Having used several tools over the years, I was excited to update these articles with information concerning these innovations. I chose several articles that needed updating and used a link to MapWith.Us as a reference to demonstrate that this technology has actually been implemented. No doubt MapWith.Us will be gobbled up by one of the mapping giants, but just because you’re big … doesn’t mean you’re the best. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.40.100 (talk) 21:44, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
