Colyn Fischer

Colyn Fischer is an American violinist that has played the violin since the age of three and has been Scottish fiddling since the age of five. As a teenager, he studied with a number of the great fiddle masters of Scotland, such as Ian Powrie, Angus Grant, & Alasdair Hardy, and in the USA with John Turner and Bonnie Rideout. He holds a Bachelor of Music Performance in Violin from Wheaton College, Illinois, and has recorded with various ensembles and genres from rock to jazz to classical and Scottish.
In 1993, he won the National Scottish Fiddling championship (Jr. Div.). Fischer won the title of US-Scottish Open Fiddle Champion for 2005, having won the nationwide competition at the Houston Highland Games on May 14, 2005. He got the title again in 2006, winning the National Scottish Fiddling championship in Ohio.
As of 2007, Fischer lives in Barstow, California, teaching music at the public school, and also teaches at the annual Jink and Diddle School of Scottish Fiddling. He will appear as part of the Celtic music group Road to the Isles at the 2008 Cape May Music Festival on May 18, 2008.[1]
