Columbus is a division of Gruppo SPA, who also own Cinelli.[1]
Started in 1919 as a general tubing manufacturer by AL Colombo, the specialist bicycle tubing division became an independent entity in 1977 under the leadership of Colombo's youngest son, Antonio Colombo[2]
Columbus were for many years the only credible competition to Reynolds Ti in the bicycle tube set market with many of the big name Italian manufacturers of bicycles and framesets utilising their products. Famous name builders such as Bianchi, De Rosa, Pinarello and Colnago all specified the Columbus tubesets as part of their range.
