This species is endemic to the Chatham Rise, east of New Zealand.

[edit] Habitat

This pagoda snail lives at depths of about 400 m.

[edit] Shell description

The shell has the shape and approximate spire angle of Columbarium spiralis but with very different sculpture, which consists of heavy smooth spiral keels, the strongest one peripheral. Contiguous sutural minor keels combine to create a deeply canaliculate suture. The only axial sculpture consists of very fine regular growth lines.

The shell height is up to 52 mm, and the width up to 17 mm.
