The Colt's Manufacturing Company King Cobra revolver, chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge, was in production from 1986 until it was discontinued in the 1990's. The Cobra will also chamber the shorter .38 Special cartridge, as well as higher powered .38 Special +P ammunition.
The King Cobra was based on the earlier Trooper (such as the venerable Trooper Mk III) revolvers but featured a more modern design with full length underbarrel lug and solid top barrel rib. The rear sight is fully adjustable. The Cobra was intended as a less expensive alternative to the Colt Python. King Cobras were offered in both blued and stainless steel finishes. The King Cobra is an all-around versatile gun, suitable for sport, law enforcement duty, self-defense and hunting, while a smooth and crisp trigger pull makes it a great target pistol as well.
