"Colonial Day" is an episode of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica television series.

Colonial Day (the annual celebration of the signing of the "Articles of Colonization") has come, and President Roslin uses the opportunity aboard the recreation ship Cloud Nine to unveil a new "Quorum of Twelve" (a unicameral deliberative body consisting of one delegate from each of the Twelve Colonies).

During the gathering, the former radical Tom Zarek is nominated to represent Sagittaron. He then calls for elections to select a Vice President for Laura Roslin. To Roslin's dismay, Zarek is himself nominated for the post by disgruntled representatives of some of the Colonies.

During a barroom brawl, Apollo and Starbuck discover that a man named Valance has smuggled a weapon aboard Cloud Nine. Though they believe Valance is an agent of Zarek, no information is gained from interrogation. Valance is found murdered in the interrogation room, and Zarek's agents are suspected.

Determined to thwart Zarek's ambitions, Roslin appoints a personal aide, Wallace Grey, as her Vice Presidential candidate; however, when Zarek makes headway in the media, she finds an unlikely candidate to better oppose him: Dr. Baltar, who has helped push Roslin's leadership qualities and criticised Zarek's criminal history. As a deadlocked vote is cast, Baltar manages to win the Vice Presidency, as President Roslin controls the tiebreak vote. During the Colonial Day celebration, Zarek claims that he did not kill Valance. A connection between Ellen Tigh and Zarek is clearly implied.

Back on Caprica, Helo and Caprica-Boomer reach Delphi. There, Helo sees a duplicate of Sharon that attempts to kill him. As Caprica-Boomer shoots her fellow duplicate, Helo realises the horrifying truth: she is a Cylon. Despite her pleas, he quickly flees from her.
