Colonial (passenger train)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Colonial was a name given to several passenger trains.
- The Pennsylvania Railroad's Colonial ran between Washington, DC and New York City, and was last operated in 1973 by Amtrak.
- In 1976 Amtrak started operating another train called the Colonial, running between Newport News, Virginia and New York. After various changes, it was renamed the Old Dominion in 1992, and is now part of the Virginia Service of Amtrak's Regional.
- In 1997 Amtrak again restored the Colonial name for a Richmond, Virginia-New York train; this is also part of the Regional's Virginia Service now.
