Colnbrook railway station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Colnbrook railway station was a station on the now closed railway line between West Drayton and Staines West. It opened in 1884 to serve the village of Colnbrook, perhaps anticipating it to one day grow into a larger settlement. [1]

Passenger use was fairly minimal, althrough the station was only closed to passengers in 1965. Goods services were withdrawn the following year and the track withdrawn. The platforms survived for quite a while after closure, but have now been demolished. The station house still stands. [2]

Some of the line it stood on may be re-used for the Heathrow Airtrack link between Staines and Heathrow Airport.Between 1961 and 1965, Colnbrook Estate Halt, a small halt was opened to the north to serve the industrial estate there.[3]
