Colm Peter Imbert is a politician from Trinidad and Tobagoand is a member of the House of Representatives of Trinidad and Tobago and the People's National Movement (PNM) and is the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Diego Martin East. Colm Imbert was born on the 30th of July, 1957. He attended St. Mary's College CIC in Port of Spain and Mt. St. Benedict (the Abbey School). He holds a Master's degree in Construction Law and Arbitration from Robert Gordon University(2007); a Master's degree in Maritime Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester (1982) and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Honours from the University of the West Indies(1979). He is also an engineer by profession. During his time in opposition, he operated a construction company called ICGL (Imbert Construction Group Limited)

Colm Imbert first entered politics in 1991 by winning the Diego Martin East seat for the PNM in the 1991 General Elections. He was appointed the Minister of Works and Transport and Minister of Local Government in the PNM Government during the four years following the 1991 Election .

[edit] 1995 - 2001

In the 1995 General Elections he once again won the seat of Diego Martin East for the PNM although the PNM did not win the election. He also contested General Elections in 2000 and 2001 winning his seat on all occasions.

He again won his seat of Diego Mrtin East in 2002 where he was a Member of the House of Representatives of Trinidad and Tobago and the People's National Movement (PNM) and is the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Diego Martin East. He was also the Minister of Works and Transport of Trinidad and Tobago which he will remain as until the General Elections which was carded for November 5th of 2007 or his post is changed by the Prime Minister.

He originally began as the Minister of Health when the PNM was elected into power in 2002 and then later became the Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education before becoming the Minister of Works and Transport.

His constituency of Diego Martin East because of boundary changes, was renamed Diego Martin North/East.

In the Trinidad and Tobago general election, 2007 he won his seat of Diego Martin North/East by gaining 9,349 votes. He was reappointed as Minister of Works and Transport by Prime Minister Patrick Manning with CEPEP and URP now under his ministry
