Colm Burke

Colm Burke (born 17 January 1957) is an Irish politician who is currently a member of the European Parliament for the constituency of South in Ireland. He is a member of the European People's Party. He was appointed in June 2007 following the re-election of the outgoing MEP Simon Coveney to Dáil Éireann. Following the abolition of the dual mandate, Coveney opted to remain in national politics and resigned from the European Parliament.
Burke is a former Fine Gael Cork city councillor and former Lord Mayor of Cork in the 2003–04 term. Burke will serve on the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, on the sub-committee on Human Rights and on the Internal Markets committee.
