Colligo Contributor is a proprietary software package aimed at businesses, developed by Colligo Networks of Vancouver, British Columbia. Colligo Networks was formed in 2000 to develop collaboration software for companies with mobile information workers. Its first product was Colligo Workgroup Edition; peer-to-peer collaboration software that enables teams of mobile information workers, such as auditors, to share and synchronize data using wifi-enabled laptops. Colligo Workgroup Edition was best known for its capabilities to replicate Lotus Notes databases from client-to-client. Colligo Contributor was recently launched and is part of a new family of Colligo products that provide rich client interfaces for Microsoft SharePoint, a collaborative portal application based on the Windows SharePoint Services platform. The Colligo for Sharepoint product line also includes a free product called Colligo Reader.

[edit] Colligo Contributor for SharePoint
Colligo Contributor is desktop software developed on the Microsoft .NET framework, that synchronizes content, such as files, folders and lists contained in SharePoint sites with a local data store contained on a client machine. It is compatible with servers running Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 or 3.0, Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Colligo Contributor provides a local user interface that is an alternative to the typical SharePoint interface through a browser. It has been called a “client for SharePoint” [1]. As a client application, Colligo Contributor supports operations such as drag-and-drop and provides increased integration with other desktop applications, such as Microsoft Outlook. The architecture of the local data store enables users to optionally cache SharePoint content locally, making it available online and offline. Colligo contributor provides client emulation of most of the functions of a SharePoint server: in addition to document libraries, it enables users to view and edit standard and custom lists, metadata, and SharePoint views, providing a way for corporations to extend and control SharePoint site organization on the desktop of users. It also downloads SharePoint content types so new documents can be created locally. An ActiveX control in Colligo Contributor enables users to view and edit SharePoint document libraries and lists from within Microsoft Outlook and provides a capability to drag-and-drop emails into SharePoint.
[edit] Colligo Contributor 3.0
In March 2008, the Colligo Contributor product line was split into four products: Contributor Client, an offline desktop client for SharePoint, Contributor Add-In, a Microsoft Outlook Add-In for email and document management in SharePoint, Contributor Pro, which provides both interfaces and Contributor SDK, and a Microsoft .NET software development kit that is used to develop desktop applications for SharePoint. Examples of custom applications built using this SDK are the Contributor Drop Box, a desktop application that supports drag and drop of files and immediate sync to a specific SharePoint document library.
