From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Collen Maduwapera (b. 1967) is a Zimbabwean sculptor.

Born into a family of eight in Ruwa, Maduwapera completed his primary schooling in Ruwa before heading to Bromley for high school. After he finished, his parents died, and he found work as a teacher. During this time he met Nicholas Mukomberanwa, becoming a student in his workshop. Mukomberanwa encouraged him to develop his talents in both painting and sculpture. Maduwapera worked for the Ministry of Education until 1994, remaining a sculptor only in his free time. With Mukomberanwa's assistance he set up a workshop along with Itayi Tauzeni and Gerald Takawira, and works full-time as an artist today.
