Colleen McMurphy

Colleen McMurphy was a central character from the ABC television series China Beach, played by Dana Delany. McMurphy, a typical Catholic girl from Kansas, was commissioned in the U.S. Army, becoming a nurse for the 510th Evac Hospital in Vietnam during the late 1960s.

The character was used in the series to display the courage, kindness, and sacrifice of the American nurse in war, as well as the severe emotional impact on (and coping mechanisms of) non-combatant personnel, during and following service.
