Cassidy started the season as the Kildare Countys senior teams third choice goalkeeper but injuries to both John Flynn and Austin O' Neill saw Colm become the clubs first choice goalkeeper towards the end of the 2007 season. He made his debut for the senior team in the side pre season friendly against Bohemians in February 2007. His first competitive debut arrived in the league game against Limerick 37 at Station Road on May 27, 2007. Cassidy came on as a replacement for Padraig Amond after John Flynn had been sent off in a controversial penalty incident.
