Colette Trudeau (b. June 17, 1985) is a Canadian rock musician best known for her role as the lead vocalist for the all-female pop punk band LiveonRelease.
Performing since the age of 8, at 13 Colette joined the all-girl rock band LiveonRelease that was signed to Bif Naked's Her Royal Majesty's Records, distributed through Warner Music Canada. As lead singer, Trudeau toured North America extensively for three years supporting two CDs, while the band's videos received heavy rotation on MuchMusic.
In the summer of 2003, at the age of 18, Colette left the band to write her own material and pursue a solo career. Colette quickly signed a production deal with Banana Toons Productions and started co-writing with hit songwriters Sean Hosein, Dane Deviller, Steve Smith and Anthony Anderson, as well as Brian Howes from the band Closure who has written hits for such bands as Daughtry and Hedley.
In 2005, Colette released a 3 track EP exclusively on her MySpace, which included demo versions of "Freeze", "Spin Me", and "Shades." "Shades" was eventually removed because it did not fit in with the rest of the material she was writing.
Colette launched her own podcast show on September 17th, 2006 to let listeners hear snippets of the material she had been working on. Songs that appear on Colette's podcast include:
-Tell Me It's Ok
-Broken
-Don't Give Up
-Freeze (re-recorded version; co written by Brian Howes)
-Spin Me (re-recorded version)
-Stay With Me
-Ex-Girlfriend
-I Don't Want To Know
-No Friend Of Mine
-Oxygen (co-written by Brian Howes)
-UnEnd It (co-written by Brian Howes)
-The Big No
In 2007, the entire version of "UnEnd It" appeared on Colette's official MySpace page, while a clip of a song called "The Big No" appeared on Colette's Purevolume page.
In January of 2008 "UnEnd It" was taken off her MySpace while the entire version of "I Don't Wanna Know" was put up. In a blog Colette stated that her label is thinking of making the song her first single.
"I Don't Wanna Know" was added to the rotation to CHUM radio stations across Canada in January 2008 and is on multiple radio stations top 20 charts.
As of 2008, the release date for her upcoming solo record is unknown.
