[edit] History

The basic education in Acapulco before the great tourist developments of the 1980s underwent an inadequate relation between the academic contents and required the educative and cultural necessities for a tourist height without precedents in Mexico. In half of the Eighties with the important projects of investment and Freeway of the Sun, Acapulco required a new educational model that met the academic demands of local and foreign students of this new port. The tourist vocation of Acapulco's, as well as the new Mexican and foreign families of who got up themselves to contribute to the development of the new Acapulco, demanded a school with bilingual cuuriculum of high academic quality. In addition to the economic changes, it was the environmental quality of the ecological surroundings and but mainly the health of the bay of Santa Lucia, this fundamental aspect for the sustainable development of the city, required (for the first time in a tourist port in Mexico) the design of a program of environmental education with emphasis in the marine ecosystem. For all these new contents in the programs it was counted on the collaboration of the Olinca School of the city of Mexico, the Advanced Study and Research center of the IPN and the University of California at Berkeley.

For September of 1987 the Nautilus School was inaugurated thanks to the great support of distinguished local industralists summoned by the patronage of the school. At the beginning of the Nineties the school had managed to certify its programs of English, environmental education and to be the first school in Acapulco with a computerized multimedia hall. In this heading of educative technologies, the school maintained the leadership in the matter of computacional culture until obtaining the service to the parents to see its children work in the classroom via Internet.

At the moment, in 2007 the school counts on new designed facilities architectonic and electronically to go beyond the interactive blackboards. To its 20 years since its foundation, the school has developed architectonic spaces that teachers aptitudes of and student allow to the optimization of the creative generating suitable processes of learning to obtain the excellence.
