Cole Valley Christian High School is a secondary school in Meridian, Idaho.

Their vision statement is:

"The only reason we exist is to serve Jesus Christ by developing the whole person to impact the world for Him."[1]

Their mission is:

"To develop the whole person by providing a Christian educational program that shepherds our students as we challenge them to achieve their fullest potential spiritually, academically, socially, physically, and relationally."[2]

Founded in 1972 by Cole Community Church, the school originally opened under the name "Cole Christian School" with 11 students in kindergarten and first grade.[3]

A merger in 1999 with Valley Christian High School combined the strengths of both organizations and created one of the largest private K-12 institutions in the state of Idaho. The new school was named Cole Valley Christian Schools.[4]

Academic excellence is one of the hallmarks of Cole Valley Christian Schools. Historically, CVCS sends 87%-94% of its graduates to college, well above the published national public school statistic of 35%. Students participate in the ISAT, ACT (examination), and SAT tests each year consistently scoring above national, state, and local averages.[5]

The school offers a wide array of athletics and extracurricular activities, including choir, football, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, track and field, cross country running, and chess club.The school has added new administrators this year including former teacher at CVCS Kim DeMain as Principal; Brett Moehlmann as Vice Principal; and Brad Carr moved up as the school's Superintendent. Each year, the drama club puts together a play.[7] Plays performed include Alice in Americaland, Arsenic and Old Lace (play), The Butler Did It, Is There a Doctor in the House, The Truth Behind Fairy Tales, and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Chapel is held each Thursday, worship is lead by student praise and worship teams. Jared Slyter was this year's elected school chaplain in which he picks speakers to come and speak. [8]

In 1996 they became eligible for state competitions. In their first year they went to the state playoffs in both football and basketball led by Nathan Burton and David Seusy. In 2002, the boys basketball team won the State Championship over Castleford High School. The team was led by State player of the year Cameron Mayer and runner up Michael Bayless. In 2004 the team won the State Championship once again, this time defeating Council High School (Idaho). The team was led by J.P. Sacht and Stan Akkerman.[9]

The Cole Valley Mathcounts team, a group of junior high students who compete in math competitions, is one of the strongest in the area. In 2005, the team placed 3rd at regional competition, with Ryan Wheeler (5th place) and Tyler Mick (6th) leading the team.

Also, in 2005, the Charger Choir, led by Claudia Sutherland[10] tied for first place in the large school category at the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Music Festival. Katherine Beck and Philip Eastman also took first place for their rendition of "All I Ask of You" from The Phantom of the Opera (1986 musical). Hilary Johnson's vocal solo and the Charger Jazz Ensamble both received honorable mentions.[11] In 2007, the choir received an Honorable Mention (or second place) at the same event. [12]

In 2006, the Cole Valley INL Quiz Team took 4th place in State. This year, the Cole Valley team won first place at the Class C state competition. They will head to the national competition on May 1 to represent Idaho

The secondary campus in Meridian, Idaho, recently saw the addition of a gymnasium (school). This building includes a college-sized basketball court and volleyball courts, as well as a weight room and four rooms. The facility can seat as many as 1,200 people with the bleacher sets fully expanded. Along with the construction of the gym came the creation of the Charger Commons, a multipurpose area primarily serving as a lunchroom.

There is also an elementary school division of Cole Valley Christian. That campus is located in Boise, Idaho.

Cole Valley Christian Schools is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS), and the state of Idaho.[13]
