Cole Tinkler (born May 5, 1986) is a New Zealand football (soccer) player who played as a right full back for the New Zealand Knights in the newly formed Hyundai A-League.
In January 2006, he received his first call-up for the All Whites, the New Zealand national team, for the series against Malaysia, in February 2006. However, he didn't play in any of the matches.
Cole is currently plying his trade for Sengkang-Punggol Football Club, an S-League club in Singapore. He has made a more than impressive debut against Gombak United Football Club and help the club reach its first ever finals, the Singapore League Cup Final. However, they were to lose 4-0.
Cole's presence at the back and his calmness in every attack makes him one of the best defenders in the league, despite his young age. Furthermore, he is composed on the ball and is not afraid to dribble the ball out of his area. In addition to that, he has an exceptional reading of the game and his aerial ability has helped cancel out many threats from crosses.
He showed his flexibility and adaptability by playing in at least 4 positions during the match between Sengkang-Punggol and Woodlands Wellington. He started the match as a striker, dropped back into attacking midfielder and back again as striker. After the break, he came out and took his place as a striker, then reverting back to his more accustomed position of central defender. After which he was pushed up as a covering midfielder. And he finally finished the game as a striker. Incidently, the game ended as a 1-1 draw between the 2 teams with Cole displaying determination and hardwork throughout the match.
