Coldtowne
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ColdTowne Theater is a theater in Austin, Texas dedicated to live comedy. It is located at 4803 Airport Blvd. next to I Luv Video, a popular indie video rental store. The theater opened on October 28th, 2006 and also includes Austin's only long-form improv training center, The ColdTowne Conservatory, similar to those found at the Improv Olympic and Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. The ColdTowne Theater is a venue associated with the Austin improv Collective.
The theater is run by the members of ColdTowne, (Michael Jastroch, Justin York, Tami Nelson, Arthur Simone, and Chris Trew,) who temporarily relocated to Austin as a result of Hurricane Katrina. The comedy troupe decided to remain in Austin, citing the growing popularity of the comedy scene. Because of the nature of their arrival, ColdTowne has gotten lots of press from the Austin Chronicle, the popular improv resource Yes And and various other papers around the country. Other regular performers at the ColdTowne Theater like The Frank Mills, Parallelogramophonograph, Look Cookie, Murphy and Midnight Society are also considered members of the ColdTowne Theater.
