Cold War Recognition Certificate

The Cold War Recognition Certificate is a recognition certificate presented by the Secretary of Defense to all members of the armed forces and qualified federal government civilian personnel who faithfully and honorably served the United States anytime during the Cold War era, which is defined as September 2, 1945 to December 26, 1991. It is important to note that this is the only certificate offered by the DOD for service during a war. Every other war fought by the United States, was honored by a medal issued to those members authorized and who displayed honorable service. It is also noteworthy that anyone who had served in the military or the Federal Government would be authorized to receive this certificate. One who worked as a seasonal employee for the US Postal Service would be authorized. See the link below to the Cold War Veterans Associate (CWVA) for more information.

A Cold War Victory Medal also exists which may accompany the Cold War Recognition Certificate, however the medal is unofficial and may only be privately purchased.
