Cold Brook Railroad Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cold Brook Station, MP 22.1, used to be but a mere shack by the now abandoned Cold Brook Bridge, and didn't generate much business. However, the U&D tore the old Cold Brook Station down in the early 1900s, and erected a new one about 800 feet away.
During the flooding of the Ashokan Reservoir, six stations were submerged forever, and one of these was the Boiceville Station. When this was flooded, the Cold Brook station took over as the stop at Boiceville.
It served the town of Boiceville until the end of passenger service on the U&D in 1954, when it was abandoned. However, it was recently renovated, and is now a private hunting club.
The railroad tracks next to the station are leased to the Catskill Mountain Railroad which plans to extend its tourist trains to this station in the near future. The trains currently stop 6/10ths of a mile west of the station.
