Col Elliott

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Col Elliot is an Australian stand-up comedian, known as 'Australia’s Resident Madman', a nickname given to him by show announcer Wally Bishop. His career has spanned almost 30 years in the entertainment industry.

Elliot began his career in comedy whilst serving in the Royal Australian Navy where he and fellow Navy personnel formed a band called the 'New Nee Soon City Ramblers', named for the town of Nee Soon in Singapore where their ship was in port at the time. Elliot left the navy in 1972 and was encouraged to take his act to television talent show, New Faces, where he won first prize of AUD$500.

In recent years, he has toured local clubs across Australia as part of his travelling comedy show, which has been advertised in newspapers and on television. The shows feature a number of fictional characters merged with various comedic routines, and are coined by his slogan "Look out, Australia!". Some of his more recent comedy performances are now available on DVD.
