Coláiste Mhuire

Coláiste Mhuire, which is part of the Marino Institute of Education, is a primary teacher training college which is affiliated with Trinity College, Dublin. It is located on Griffith Avenue, Dublin 9. Coláiste Mhuire is primarily focused on providing for pre-service primary education. Courses are provided in association with the Church of Ireland College of Education, Froebel College and Trinity College, Dublin. Degrees and diplomas are awarded by Trinity College, Dublin.
The Irish language is encouraged and fostered as the medium of communication in the college and also as a focus for teaching and learning.

The undergraduate course is of three years duration, whereby at the end of the 3 years an Ordinary Bachelor of Education Degree (Level 7) is awarded from Trinity College. In order to obtain a Higher Bachelor of Educaion Degree (Level 8) a part-time fourth year course must be taken at Trinity College. Application to study for the Higher B-Ed Degree is possible at any year following conferral with an Ordinary B-Ed Degree. Students are eligible to work as fully trained primary teachers while also completing the fourth year to obtain the Higher Degree.
There is also a Post-Graduate course in Primary Teaching available at Coláiste Mhuire, Marino. This course is of 18 months duration. At the end of the 18 month course, successful students are awarded with a Higher Diploma in Primary Teaching and are recognised as fully qualified primary school teachers.
