Cognita

Cognita is a private company which owns and operates independent schools throughout the UK. The company is based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

The business was formed in 2004 with funds provided by its management and a private equity firm called Englefield Capital. The company employs over 950 teachers in 38 schools across the UK and 2 international schools in Singapore and Spain. There are over 11,700 pupils on the roll of these schools. The schools fit a broad profile, including pre-prep, prep and senior schools.[1]

The current chairman of Cognita is Chris Woodhead, the former Chief Inspector of Schools in England.[2]
