A polyphyletic group of sclerites which are all characterised by having hollow sclerites made of calcium carbonate, possibly aragonite.
There are two monophyletic groups within the coeloscleritophorans; the Sachitids which Halkieria and Wiwaxia belongs to and the Chancellorids.
These are common constituents of Lower Cambrian small shelly fossil assemblages.
