User talk:Code of the Sphinx
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi, Nicholas. You have requested for an Adopter. If you'd like, I can help you to get around the basics of Wikipedia, editing articles and all that. I'm very glad that you decided to help around Wikipedia's articles; a little bit goes a long way! Anyway, if you'd like to start, contact me at my talk page. However, I'm afraid that I won't be able to reply quickly. Indeed, I'm rather busy in real life but I do check in every week, so no worries! By the way, I removed your e-mail address for security purposes, I hope you don't mind. Cheers, Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:36, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Please, call me Zachary. Its way easier to type, isn't it? :) As for your question, there are two means of communication in Wikipedia. The first is the one you and me are using; sending a message to someone's talk page (see Wikipedia:Talk Pages) and waiting for him/her to reply. The second is a sort of chat room, where your messages are replied to almost instantaneously. Look at Wikipedia:IRC Channels for more information. As for the rules, I'm not sure what you mean, but its generally like writing letters, be polite and so on. Once you've finished typing your message, leave four tildes at the back of your message:
Hi, how are you? ~~~~
- And it results in:
Hi, how are you? Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- The message system is a little overwhelming but for now, all you need to do is to remember to sign your messages (by leaving the four tildes). It is probably the main rule in Wikipedia's communication. If you need anythng, or ask any questions, leave me a message at my talk page. Or you can try the Help page for a tutorial. by the way, I'm still open for coaching! Cheers, Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
By the way, you can take a look at here and also here for some stuff on editing. --Zacharycrimsonwolf 12:09, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adoptoffer
I am offering you adoption currently. I have enough expertise about Wikipedia to help you with any subject. Thanks, Laleena 12:04, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, of course you can have two adopters. It is probably better as such, because then you can get 2 opinions on any one topic. If you like, I can add the tags for adoption. Laleena 00:35, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Dear Laleena, Thank you for your assistance and quick response. With regard to adding the "tags for adoption," please do. How do accept both adopters? --N.L. Ross 18:35, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Add the necessary tags for each and simply start asking. I will add my tags, Zachary, will you add yours? Laleena 22:12, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
-
- Well, if you're referring to me, I will gladly do it. Sorry for the late reply, though. --Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:17, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:SacredscienceCover.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SacredscienceCover.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:10, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to Novels WikiProject
Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WikiProject_Novels_announcements}} there.
While you are updating your userpage, don't forget our userbox {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach/User WPNOVELS}}. - The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but other methods are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines / template outlines some things to include.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the members, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 14:33, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Some advice
Hi there, Nicholas. I decided to give you some advice on what to remember on Wikipedia. First, you need to read through the introduction to Wikipedia right here. They don't mention the major policies, but if you go through the links on the page, you should be able to figure things out. Also, I recommend that you impart your research on a sub page of your user page. Also, remember to keep things looking immaculate, and I would recommend that you go through the sub pages of The Transhumanist who has some interesting stuff that I work on or do plenty. His page on design would apply here, but so would nearly everything. If you would like a tailored reference pack, I'll send that in. I think that this should be plenty to go on. Cheers, Laleena 00:09, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not put red links on your user page. They are distracting and don't look nice anyway. Laleena 12:24, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
