[edit] My contributions to Wikipedia
I enjoy editing articles on Wikipedia to help add whatever knowledge I can and to make articles the best I can. It is a great way to share knowledge and to show the world around us. I generally edit science or computer related articles. For example, I often try to contribute to articles like Orbiter (sim) and Half-Life 2. I also believe in high-resolution images, and getting the most out of Wikipedia while still following copyright guidelines. I may disagree with some on copyright issues, particularly about images, however I try to resolve the issue by using talk pages. I feel it is too common that content on wikipedia is limited too greatly by those who follow Copyright policies too closely and Wikipedia ends up getting hurt in the process. Images can both follow guidelines and be detailed and high quality, which I think others struggle to see. |
[edit] General info about Me, Cody-7
Hi! I go by the name of Cody-7 on Wikipedia and on most other websites and forums, and live in the state of Colorado, USA. My real name is Adam Israel (age 18), and I'm just now learning how to edit Wikipedia pages and toying with the Wiki format. I enjoy video gaming, photography, and all kinds of Sci-Fi material. I first ran into Wikipedia by looking up science-related articles, and find it's a great place for information. I like to give to the community, so I edit anything I feel needs changed to better describe the truth and facts. I also like photography, both digital (On the PC, photoshop, etc) and regular photography. I recently uploaded several high-resolution images in the Half-Life 2 article to replace some of some lower quality. I've done some work making HTML web-pages but decided Wikipedia would be a great place to make a user profile, for all the world to see and help improve the great info found on Wikpedia about nearly everything. I do believe in the simplicity of information, though in general - which applies to Wikipedia. One of my main general dislikes about the Wikipedia website is the complexity of some articles. I don't like reading an article to be treated to such high-level scientific words and a mathmatical equation in the next paragraph. Does a Wikipedia user actually come here to look for an obscure math equation? I think it would be naive to think so. Wikipedia isn't here to impress other people with your knowledge; it's to benefit everyone. I'm currently a senior at Chatfield High School in Littleton, Colorado. I'm pretty up-beat and easy going, and you could say I don't have a plan for things yet. I do have an "idea" of what I want to do, though, in the future. I'm thinking of working with graphic design and eventually help develop PC games. I'm one of those "visual", artsy people who doesn't like coding or math. Coming up to me and saying the word "algebra" is like yelling "IT" to one of Knights who say Ni! |
[edit] Hobbies / Interests
As kind of covered above, I love gaming (Mainly of the PC kind) Listening to music (more below), drawing people and soldiers, working with photography and photoshop, the TV series Stargate SG-1 and Jericho (TV series), skateboarding, and surfing the web. I love a good movie occasionally, such as Black Hawk Down (film) or my favorite, Collateral (film) Some of my favorite PC games are Command & Conquer: Red Alert and Half-Life 2. If you look at both of those games, they devastating post-apactalypic storylines but have real and believable factors in them making them seem possible. Also Stargate SG-1 features the real-world Air Force soldiers utilizing alien technology; it's a combination of realism and science fiction. I don't dig over-fantisized Sci-Fi stories. Lord of the Rings is about as sci-fi as I get.
[edit] PC GamingI enjoy a huge variety of games, and usually get fixated on playing a certain one for a few months then rotating to another. My favorite genre of games is Tactical First-Person shooters (FPS)'s. I also have a great time playing a killer round of a Real-Time strategy (RTS) game such as Rise of Nations. I usually prefer more realistic games especially military based ones. I also love post-apactalypic storylines such as the ones seen in Half-Life 2 and C&C Red Alert as mentioned above. I especially like to ponder when I'm bored what it would be like to live in a world like that. Anyways, here's a list of my favorite PC games listed from most favorite to least favorite: |
