Cody's Law is an Oklahoma state law, signed by Governor Brad Henry on July 31, 2006, which makes it a felony for any adult to allow a minor to drink or consume illegal drugs. The law was named after Cody Greenshaw, a young man from Oklahoma who died from a drug overdose at a party where adults were present. Greenshaw's parents requested state lawmakers to create a law making it a felony if adults let a minor drink or consume drugs and the minor dies as a result. Such activity remains a misdemeanor if there is no death involved. One of the principal sponsors of the original bill, state representative Fred Perry, has stated that efforts would be made to strengthen the law further.
