[edit] Gameplay

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is a Third-person Shooter, with the primary viewpoint being an over-the-shoulder camera of the relevant soldier. The game also includes a first-person view for actions such as the viewing of information / displays from team-mates and support units as well as a tactical overview shown for air-support.

[edit] The Cross-Com System

The Cross-Com is a mainstay of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter franchise, and is the means by which players recieve information and dispense orders, as well as performing the traditional roles of the HUD from other actions games. In the corners there are displays for the players health, weapon selections, intelligence updates as well as the contextual cross-com action panel. Depending on the selected support and the direction the player is pointing one or two actions are typically available such as:

  • Move to location
  • Destroy Vehicle
  • Snipe (if zoomed in, and Alicia Diaz is part of the squad)
  • Attack
  • Move Forward / Move Back / Stop (Tank / APC)

[edit] Plot / Missions

The story of the singleplayer game is broken into three acts, each of which is comprised of several missions.

  • Act 1 - Following immediately from the events of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter the player is informed of the continuing political struggles engulfing Mexico and much of Latin America. The player is inserted unofficially onto Mexican soil in order to locate potential nuclear weapons.
  • Act 2 - The instigators of the rebellion are found to be foreign mercenaries of unclear origin, who are manipulating the rebel forces for their own ends. The player must attempt to locate the missles as well as destroying a device being used to jam the United States' anti-missile defense systems.
  • Act 3 - The player must fight their way back across the border in order to topple the remaining insurgents, locate and destroy the remaining nuclear missles before they can be launched.

[edit] Trivia

  • You can also obtain special head gear from Rainbow Six: Vegas and Splinter Cell: Double Agent by having saved profiles from the games on your hard drive or memory card. You gain access to these head pieces in the multiplayer character customization area.
  • In the distance of the multiplayer map Lagoon, what looks like another island map from the first GRAW can be seen in the distance. Similarities include the raised cliff like area in the center with rocky beaches to the sides.
