Cobalt(III) oxide

Cobalt(III) oxide is a black substance that could be obtained by adding cobalt(II) nitrate to an aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite (also known as bleach). In that case, it is used as a catalyst to speed up a chemical reaction.
