Most of these are from Epoch Times and other FLG media, while others simply reprinted CIPFG's statements. There is no in-depth coverage whatsoever, and a few coverage in current events doesn't automatically qualifies notability. The group and its actions are already covered in other relevant FLG articles.--PCPP (talk) 12:17, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

The Epoch Times is a reliable source, the CIPFG is not associated with the Falun Gong, rather it is a U.S. organization sympathetic to the human rights situation of the Falun Gong thus even if the ET were associated with the FG, their sources are still reliable. --Strothra (talk) 17:25, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CIPFG's association with Falun Gong

According to Lum CRS report, page CRS-8, paragraph 3:

"Coalition to Investigatethe Persecution of the Falun Gong in China (CIPFG), a U.S.-based, non-profitorganization founded by the Falun Dafa Association"

Here's a Canadian foreign policy weekly that questions CIPFG. Please note CIPFG's president John Jaw is a FLG disciple, and has admitted CIPFG's FLG association. Also note it's time of establishment in 2006 coinciding with FLG publication Epoch Times NY's now discredited "Sujiatun/Auschwitz" story. Here's what the above article said:

"The CIPFG itself is barely a coalition in the real sense of the word."
"CIPFG was "initiated" by Falun Dafa"

[edit] Reliability of Epoch Times disputed

A. Epoch Times association with Falun Gong is a documented fact:
1) Per Thomas Lum's CRS report "China and Falun Gong"
(section CRS-7, page 10):
"FLG followers are affiliated withseveral mass media outlets, including Internet sites; the Epoch Times"
2) Funding from various Falun Gong Associations to Epoch Times can be found in non-profit disclosures:
(example Southern USA Falun Dafa Association, 02-06 Form 990, part III):
http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2002/760/692/2002-760692185-1-9.pdf
http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2003/760/692/2003-760692185-1-9.pdf
http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2004/760/692/2004-760692185-1-9.pdf
http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2005/760/692/2005-760692185-024eee8e-9.pdf
http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2006/760/692/2006-760692185-031af764-9.pdf
There are further evidence of Epoch Times financial connection with various Falun Gong Associations on www.guidestar.org, a clearinghouse of non-profit information.
B. There are also evidence of editorial inaccuracy and dishonesty:
1) My personal encounters with Epoch Times reporters who resort to personal attack and character assissination in attempt to silence its critics. Specifically I have documented these encounters between myself, as well as other bloggers, and Epoch Times reporters.
2) Many of the supposed evidence of atrocities presented by Epoch Times failed physician review. Specifically Dr. Ramana reviewed the photos had found many of them to be medical in nature and are not evidence of torture.
For example the photo used to make the sexual torture claim here is in reality photo of a woman suffering from advanced breast cancer:
http://en.epochtimes.com/news/5-10-21/33602.html
Epoch Times has been made aware of this, but refuses to correct or retract this story.
Here's a news report from New America Media, where a Duke University media project director had questioned Epoch Times' reliablility:
http://news.newamericamedia.org/news/view_article.html?article_id=6ce9872ebb88b3aaa3ff48b6c1ffc19a
"It[Epoch Times] is not viewed as an independent objective news media,"
"The Epoch Times' credibility is damaged as media professionals,"
Bobby fletcher (talk) 22:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Just to clarify things a little. There is not a central Falun Gong bank account that oversees the ET. FG doesn't take in money or require a financial obligation. ET is wholly supported by advertisement and through the support of FG practitioners within the local area of its distribution. The paper is free to anyone. On one hand, you could say that ET and FG are connected, but not in a conspiritorial way as suggested.208.242.58.125 (talk) 18:21, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lack of notability, merge with organ harvesting article

Fails WP:Notability, WP:ORG, WP:NOT#NEWS. According to [1], the organization is a "little-known non-profit organization registered in Washington, D.C.", "The CIPFG itself is barely a coalition in the real sense of the word. Founded in April this year, it has yet to attract other human rights associations under its wing. On its website, the CIPFG lists no partners.", and "admitting that the CIPFG was "initiated" by Falun Dafa".

A Google search shows 25,700 results, news search now only lands only 19!!, quite low for a supposed organization, and mostly coming from either trivial mentions or the Epoch Times, which fails WP:SPS. For months the article has not been updated with anything with long term notability, and lack of articles focusing on the group itself rather than its cause. According to WP:NOT#NEWS " Someone or something that has been in the news for a brief period is not necessarily a suitable subject for an article in their own right...Routine news coverage and matters lacking encyclopedic substance, such as announcements, sports, gossip, and tabloid journalism, are not sufficient basis for an article."--PCPP (talk) 07:57, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

We will not agree on deletion any time soon so you can go ahead and propose the page for deletion or request a comment, but don't just say I want to delete this page, and I think there is enough evidence. Because then you have my opinion and I say that the evidence you presented is not enough ... so if you strongly believe that you are right, you can go to AfD or RfC. --HappyInGeneral (talk) 12:38, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Considering that all news the that comes from China must first pass through the CCP's review / propaganda mill makes it difficult to verify whether ET is reporting hard facts or fiction. On the other hand, it does stand up for free reporting and brings to light controversial matters. It is no secret that China uses organs harvested from executed prisoners and controls its population through intimidation. Why would it be so far fetched that ET is reliable and reporting the truth?208.242.58.125 (talk) 18:39, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
