Coalition (Puerto Rico)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Coalition (Spanish: CoaliciĆ³n) was an electoral alliance in Puerto Rico.

The Coalition was formed in 1924, composed of the Republican Party (later the Republican Union) and the Socialist Party. It was generally in favor of statehood and is generally regarded as representing the interests of United States sugar corporations.[citation needed] It held a majority in the island's legislature from 1932 to 1940.
