From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Members of Parliament who were founding members of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation in 1932. Official parliamentary records of the period only note the party for which an MP was elected so MPs elected in 1930 who later joined the CCF are listed under the party for which they were elected. The MPs who were founding members of the CCF were elected as Labour or Independent Labour, United Farmers of Alberta,United Farmers of Ontario and/or Progressive Party of Canada MPs. They were all members of the Ginger Group in parliament. All of these MPs except for Agnes MacPhail ran as CCF candidates in the 1935 federal election but only three (Woodsworth, Heaps and MacInnis) were successfully returned under the CCF banner. {MacPhail ran as a United Farmers of Ontario candidate as the UFO had withdrawn from the CCF the year before - she was later elected to the Ontario legislature as a CCFer).
