Clyde Mountain

Clyde Mountain is a 5 kilometre section of steep, winding section of the Kings Highway. It is responsible for many crashes, 22% of all incidents on the Kings Highway occurring on a 40 km stretch on and near the mountain.^[1] There are 3 safety ramps (runaway truck ramps) that are used for if a truck or heavy vehicle has lost control of speed or their brakes have failed.

Slow vehicle turnouts have just been added on the Clyde Mountain descent, which allows vehicles to pass trucks in low gear.
