Club Atlético River Plate Puerto Rico, known also as River Plate, RPPR or simply River, is a Puerto Rican sports club best known for its football team, established in 2007. Its home base is Ponce, Puerto Rico, and plays at the Estadio Paquito Montaner.

The club was founded on January 1, 2007 and it was created with the help of the famous Club Atletico River Plate from Argentina. Joe Serralta signed a contract with them agreeing to start Club Atletico River Plate Puerto Rico, operating in 2007.

The team started operations in the Liga Premier de Futbol de Puerto Rico and will play there for one season. In 2009 they will follow the Puerto Rico Islanders and move up to the First Division. In contradiction to this River Plate have been named as founder members of the Puerto Rico Soccer League in 2009 the first nationwide league on the island.[1]

Also the RPPR has a very good quality players both Puerto Ricans, Argentines, Colombians, Salvadorans. In fact 2007 Premier League MVP player was the argentinian defender Marcelo Roca.
