Founded April 18 1926 as club 9 De Octubre made its debut in the primera categoria in the year 1962. The biggest progress was achieved in 1964-1965 year where the team would achieve they're first runner-up campaign and a place in the Copa Libertadores.They would have two more runner-up campaigns in 1983-1984 and 1984-1985 and two more participations in the Copa Libertadores in the same years considered the golden years.From then on the team has not managed other accomplishments except re qualifying to the primera categoria in Ecuador with the help of new owner Jorge "PICHI" Flor which gave the club new life. The club would make its downfall as they descended to the segunda categoria in 1998. presently the club plays the Segunda Categoría always being a contender to ascend once again to the primera categoria still by the side of "pichi" Flor.
