[edit] Avoiding disputes
Hi, allow me to elaborate on my comment about avoiding disputes (WP:DR), as you appear to be new here, and have encountered similar disputes in the past. Removing content that you feel is not accurate is completely acceptable, and I do this constantly. However, if someone else argues that the removed content is is notable and factual (and put their statements back up), then request on the talk page that a citation be found for it. Use the {{Fact}} template where you need the fact, e.g.:
Horses can swim for five-days straight.{{Fact}} Horses have hooves ...
then insist that the included citation is not crap (as you had done to meāthis is good, and please keep it up). If the added citation is crap, then remove the citation and leave the sentence with the {{Fact}} tag so it can be evaluated by others. There are other similar templates, and I think you might like the {{Dubious}} or {{vc}} templates. Don't remove the statement, unless you can prove it wrong, or no verifiable citations are found to back up the claim. Try to not threaten others with "submit this for mediation" because this only fuels the dispute more. Only do this if it really gets out of hand (as it was with your past encounter). A dispute using simple language with no strong POVs can be cleared up without admins. +mt 08:25, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome aboard!
A very belated welcome to Wikipedia! Damn how come no-one gave you one of those welcome template things? Slack very slack. Well, now that you've been here a while you have probably worked out how this crazy place works already. If you have any questions (or just want to say hello) I'd be very happy to answer them. Just leave a message here or on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
I notice you put your name down as someone who is interested in Cambodia - that's great. WP:CAMBODIA is a pretty new wikiproject, we're still getting organised and we can use all the help we can get. I've just put up a list of open tasks or things that people can help with on the wikiproject page. So if you're bored or looking for something to do, wander over and have a look. Again, drop me a message if there's anything I can do to help out and enjoy Wikipedia! Cheers, Paxse 15:16, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hey CF02, I'm no expert - just mad about Cambodia. Besides we don't need experts, just great editors like you who are interesting in this wacky country. Cheers, Paxse 13:44, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
