I was surprised to see that no mention was made of the song's lyrics and the imagery in the video. I added a bit, but review it for accuracy, because it's been a while and I'm not sure I'm remembering everything exactly right. Everyking 23:21, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Looks good! I corrected one little fact about the video's missing scenes. I think the song section of this article could still be expanded a bit -- the chorus alone (censored though it was) made it very unique for something played on American radio stations. --Tripps 01:15, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Here's something interesting: The version of Closer that appears here 'isn't' the same as the album version. The album version cuts out before the final note on the keyboard/piano has time to fully play (meaning you get a kind of "That note was Really Short" feeling) and that's actually because it synches up with the next track, Ruiner, since Downward Spiral was a concept album and did stuff like that. The version at the end of the single, however, is about thirteen seconds longer and has the full note, as well as a little bit of the little background noise that plays during the keyboard part. 72.72.223.194 00:33, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I have added this note. Pomte 05:27, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anybody here ever watch thge Kung-Fu flick "master of the Flying Guillotine??"

The reason that I'm asking is because the song "Closer" features a drum sound-effect that sounds exactly like the music played in the movie of the same name in every shot where the Master was shown walking from place to place.

Can anybody else comment on this, as I didn't see any crediting for the sound effect in the "Closer (to God)" article?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thanos777 (talkcontribs) 00:19, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Is it possible that the music in the movie was the Iggy Pop song, Nightclubbing? This is the song which Reznor sourced the Closer kick drum sample from. It sounds identical. TheFearedMachina (talk) 14:41, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Move this article to namespace: Closer (Nine Inch Nails song)?

Since the main version of the song is titled "Closer," it appears on The Downward Spiral as "Closer," it appeared on MTV, radio, etc. as "Closer," the single is listed in Template:Nine Inch Nails as "Closer," and numerous editions (both commercial and promo) of the Halo Nine single (US/Australia cassette and UK CD 1, to name two) are officially titled "Closer," I would argue the logical primary namespace for this article should be [[Closer (Nine Inch Nails song)]]. I propose moving this article and making Closer to God a redirect to it. If you have an objection, speak now.

Your friend, Augustus Chip (talk) 20:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I agree: to name it anything else seems unnecessarily confusing. It also comes across a bit like WP:fancruft, since it's kind of a little-known-fact being blown out of proportion. So, I'm all for the move. Drewcifer (talk) 20:52, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
