[edit] Requested move

Title is simply mis-spelt, but I can't move it because of the two existing edits at Clogwyn Du'r Arddu.

Well I'm not that sure it is (simply mispelt) - both spellings occur quite frequently alas, so as with Ratcliffe, Radcliffe lets cater for people arriving from all directions please Better that than have lots of separate articles blossoming. (But I agree that Du'r is the Climbers' Club spelling and they were usually careful on these matters. So if you consider you know more Welsh than the originator of the redlink I used, please alter but provide redirects for alternative) spellings).Better still, add some content or a picture :-) Bob aka Linuxlad 17:08, 12 December 2005 (UTC) (PS and given you're going have to provide at least a redirect from this spelling, you can do it without admin support surely).

The redirect would of course be left; there's no question about that. And I guess I do know more Welsh than that red link's creator: Clogwyn Du'r Arddu translates as black cliff-face of the plough (probably; there are several possibilities that I can see for "arddu"), and is a contraction of "Clogwyn Du yr Arddu". "D'ur" on the other hand is just nonsense, although an understandable mistake for someone who doesn't know Welsh (i.e. almost everyone). --Stemonitis 18:23, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and I meant to add; I'll be in Snowdonia over Christmas, so I may be able to get a photo if the weather turns out reasonably. --Stemonitis 18:25, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

OK - don't forget that part of the problem is that the original creator (in Colin Kirkus IIRC) didn't use ’ but ‘... other than that I don't think we need to trouble an admin, because all headings will remain valid, just that some will just be redirects. Other than that it's just a cut and paste job surely? Bob Linuxlad

Cutting and pasting is frowned upon because it loses the edit history. For an admin it's a fairly simple (I believe, having no experience of my own) procedure to move them the proper way (deleting the existing redirect and then moving the existing article thither). The question of apostrophes (' ’ ‘) is only a problem when creating redirects, so not much of a problem at all. --Stemonitis 08:42, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

The root article should please have an apostrophe comme ca ' (just below @ on my UK keyboard). The original Kirkus redlink had a character I can't easily access, and so I had to copy the redlink several times (sigh). Let's use the easy one! I take your point about the history - but it's only 1 entry (mine IIRC) - we could have retyped the original article and history 6 times by now :-) Bob aka Linuxlad 09:31, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I didn't realise that was the case (hadn't actually bothered to look), but I have an innate resistance to copying and pasting anyway. Ah well - it'll all be over in a week or so. --Stemonitis 09:37, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
