Cloud Ten Pictures

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cloud Ten Pictures (or C10) is a film production company located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, founded by brothers Peter LaLonde and Paul LaLonde. The company formed in 1994 and released about one to two movies per year. It will have six films released between 2008 and 2009 (three film scheduled for release this year and three in development for next year)

The company specializes in Christian films. Both the LaLonde brothers used to host a show on evangelical broadcasting networks and a number of noted tele-evangelists make cameo appearances in their films. Though they have touched on other themes, the majority of these center around Biblical end times prophecies concerning the rise of the Anti-Christ, the Armageddon etc. The most popular of these have been the series of Left Behind films.

[edit] Abandoned projects

In 2003, the company started pre-production of a movie called End Game. The movie was supposed to be their first film planned to have a wide theatrical release. Eleven pages of the shooting script went up on the official website, but that's as far as the movie went. Production came to a halt shortly after.[[1]]

In mid-June 2003, production was supposed to begin on an animated remake of their film Left Behind: The Movie. "The storyline will be even closer to the original books than a live-action movie can be simply because of the freedom animation gives. We are very excited about the possibilities and look forward to choosing an animation partner." [2]. The film failed to go to the animation board, and some fans speculate it may be because of a $10 million suit filed by Tim LaHaye after the first live-action film hit.[[3]]

A planned television series of Left Behind was also in development but those plans also fell through.

[edit] Distribution deals

In 2004, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment acquired the rights to purchase the entire 10-film collection (which included the third chapter of the Left Behind series.) The result was a falling out for the faith-based organization.

On April 23, 2008, it was announced that Koch Entertainment and CNI Distribution will handle past and future releases of all Cloud Ten films as they are the new US distributors. Koch will re-release all C10 films under their label on April 29.
