[edit] Eagle Scout
The Eagle Scout category was added by User:136.182.2.221 on 6 Jul 2006. I cannot verify that Cussler is an Eagle Scout. If there is no verification, I am going to remove the category soon. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 17:47, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
The Eagle Scout category has been removed. If there is any verification that Cussler is an Eagle, please restore the category. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 19:54, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Please do more than add a category link to the page. If you are going to add a category you should also add a short sentence to the biography section. Please be sure to cite your source in the Notes section!--Ulysses411 22:54, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Removed Eagle Scout category again.-Phips (talk) 21:50, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- This is a stale discussion, Razor romance established it above. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 22:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ship find verification
I've started adding information on Cussler's shipwreck finds to the respective articles, each with a link to the NUMA webpage that describes it. The NUMA site doesn't meet Wikipedia's standards for verifiability, though, so I'm forced to couch the info in language like "Cussler claims...." Help verifying this stuff would be appreciated. jhf 07:12, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] THE HUNLEY
I am currently eading RAISING THE HUNLEY and it is stated that the CSS HUNLEY is a misnomer as the ship was built as a privaterr, and was never commissioned.

It indeed is almost certain that this article was copied from the copyrighted bookreporter.com site, so I have deleted the offending material. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. -- Donald Albury 23:34, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Birthplace
There seems to be just about equal representation on the web that place Clive Cussler's birthplace either in Aurora, Illinois or in Alhambra California. It seems likely to me that the articles referencing Alhambra mistakenly placed his birthplace there because he mentions that he grew up there as a boy. I decided on a couple of websites to reference that place his birthplace in Illinois though they are far from definitive. --Ulysses411 00:09, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Per his bio (see below), it is Aurora, Illinois. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 01:14, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Number of grandchildren
User 67.176.43.187 changed the number of grandchildren from 2 to 4 but did not cite a source. Does anyome know of a source for this information? --Ulysses411 23:53, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt Revealed
Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt Revealed is mentioned in the bibliography twice, but is never used as a reference. Revealed has a lot of valuable information- his place of birth is Aurora, Illinois and he is and Eagle Scout. My interests here are quite narrow and I have other tasks. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 01:18, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Life imitating art
The paragraph starting "Cussler's work in marine exploration has often raised eyebrows and tempers alike..." (at least in this edit ), seems to me to be filled with weasel words and internal contradictions. There may be some truth to it but it at least needs a rewrite. I almost deleted outright as per the biography template (top of this page) but wasn't feeling very bold today. DJ Barney (talk) 11:49, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
