Operation: Cliff Clavin was one of Chris Johnston's (more commonly known as Chris Clavin) first bands and one of the earliest bands on Plan-It-X Records. They were an influential DIY political pop-punk band that toured the United States consistently and had one international tour. The band had a rotating roster of bassists and drummers, the last being Hannah Jones and Frankie Chan.

They broke up in 1999 after a few EPs and one full length.

The music of Operation: Cliff Clavin has been used extensively in the fourth season of Rox, which ironically began after the band had broken up.

[edit] After Operation: Cliff Clavin

Chris and Hannah later went on to form Disarm. Disarm was a minor precursor to The Devil Is Electric, a short-lived pop-punk band similar to Operation: Cliff Clavin that released one full length album.

Chris and Hannah also formed their current (and still active) band, Ghost Mice. Ghost Mice have played (and continue to play) a large role in popularizing the folk punk genre.

[edit] Reunions

Operation: Cliff Clavin has reformed a handful of times for just-for-fun tours (and even to record a community-released 7" vinyl split with The Max Levine Ensemble), but a full time reunion isn't planned.

One of these reunions took place in 2004 at Plan-It-X Fest, where Operation: Cliff Clavin headlined. Fans from around the world (not just the United States) were in attendance.
