Your "Cheers for correct grid ref" mollifies me so I am prepared to give you one - you obviously did not actually follow the map source link! Since you don't do Grid Refs, we will try it with road names. There are quite a lot of Clewers on my paper map:

  • SU954772 - Clewer Village - Clewer Park (road)
  • SU956774 - Clewer St Andrew - White Lillies Island off Mill Lane and Clewer Court Road
  • SU959772 - Clewer St Stephen - Stovell Road / Vansittart Road
  • SU962766 - Clewer Within - Clewer Fields near Alma Road / Clarence Road
  • SU953761 - Clewer New Town - Clewer Avenue and Bailey Close off Hatch Lane
  • SU948762 - Clewer Green - St Andrew's Avenue
  • SU943758 - Clewer Hill - Camm Avenue

(Streetmap gives the best view on the above links.)

So give me a clew - what grid ref should be used in the article? If none of the above, give me a street junction which you consider the centre of Clewer. -- RHaworth 02:54, 2005 July 19 (UTC)

[edit] To RHaworth

You're right, I don't/didn't do Grid Refs, but I'm learning now (thanks to you!)

  • SU954772 is the appropriate Grid Ref and I've updated the article. For your help and patience, thank you.
    • My first reaction was 'that is too far north' but checking the old-maps map, that is spot on for Clewer Village. But note that these two old-maps links: [1] and [2] both show "C L E W E R" in two styles of big letters nearly a mile further south. I think one will be a civil parish; the other is ? and I'm not sure which is which. Clearly Clewer was quite an important place name. -- RHaworth 16:30, 2005 July 19 (UTC)
