CYWS is significant because the ensemble is one of the premier high school groups that travel internationally. Under the leadership of Dr. Gary Ciepluch, the group has taken at least four (precise number unknown at this time) international concert tours, with another tour scheduled for the summer of 2008. The group consistently performs at the college level, performing some pieces that some college bands would be wary to attempt. Furthermore, because of the connections of Dr. Ciepluch, the group has premiered multiple new band works, and has recorded the definite recording for others. CYWS has its home in Severance Hall, right alongside the Cleveland Orchestra, and many multiple members study privately from Orchestra musicians. Please check www.cyws.org for more information.
