Regimental staff consist of the best cadets in the school.

This is the most prestigious and honorable course to be offered. Cadets are taught all of the essentials in being the leader. They are taught drill with swords and guide ons, military courtesy, proper procedures for military banquets, leadership skills, emphasis on physical fitness etc. Cadets that attend are the top cadets in their unit. Normally, Cleveland sends five to eight cadets. In general, NJROTC cadets that attend become the commanding and executive officers of their units. At Cleveland, cadets attending Leadership Academy are almost 100% guaranteed either Regimental Commander, 1st or 2nd battalion Commander, 2nd batt. Executive Officer, or Operations Officer.
