[edit] History
In 1954, a fire at the elementary school facility claimed the lives of 15 sixth-grade students. The facility was made entirely of wood, prompting the United States to introduce code that prohibited wooden buildings from housing schools. [1]
[edit] Construction
Renovations to the Mapleview Road facility started in 1999 and were completed in 2004. A new swimming pool, gymnasium and cafeteria were constructed. The library and auditorium were refurbished.
