[edit] History & Estates

The college has three campuses, two in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough and one in Church Square, Hartlepool.

Middlesbrough School of Art, on Durham Street, and the nearby Government School of Arts in the Athenaeum on Church Street, West Hartlepool each first opened in 1870 and 1874 respectively.

The college has ran continuously in its present Hartlepool spot since 1938, despite a 1966 fire, while its Middlesbrough-based Green Lane campus was first opened in 1960, latterly being extended. The third site, at Burlam Road, which now houses provision for the BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art & Design, was the accommodation of choice for the College's BA (Hons) degrees in Fine Art and Photography until the end of the 2006-2007 academic year.

The college's current principal is David Willshaw.

[edit] Courses

The college offers a range of BTEC National Diplomas across the whole art and design spectrum, including Design Crafts, Graphic Design, Textiles, Photography, Fine Art and Fashion & Clothing.

At higher education level, the college also offers BA (Hons) and FdA degrees, covering such subjects as textiles, photography, theatre design and fashion. All the college's Higher Education courses are validated by the University of Teesside.

Cleveland College of Art & Design also offers a BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art & Design, a course traditionally undertaken by A-level students prior to enrolling on an art and design course at university.
