Cleaning Up Matters is a 2005 short film directed by Roger Erik Tinch and written by Tinch and Eddie Deirmenjian, who stars as Teddy Jr. The film centers around the family business of Teddy's Sr. and Jr.--that of cleaning up death scenes, be it from natural causes, murder, or lawn mower accident. Teddy's personal coping device for working in such a grisly business is his prized rubber duck. The rubber duck splashed with blood forms the basis for the film's promotional poster.
The film's cast and crew is comprised mostly of film majors from UNLV. It was shot in Las Vegas, Nevada and saw its world premiere at the 2005 Spring Flicks Festival at UNLV. Cleaning Up Matters was the first winner of the Best Picture Jury Award given at the festival and was subsequently screened at the 2005 CineVegas Film Festival. Additional awards went to Tinch as best director and best cinematographer, Tinch and Deirmenjian's script as best screenplay, and one more award as the audience favorite of the festival.
