[edit] Plastic brick
Hello. I deleted an article you created, Plastic brick, because it qualified for deletion under G11 of the speedy deletion criteria; in other words, it constituted nothing more than "blatant advertising." All articles on Wikipedia must adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, and present subjects from an unbiased viewpoint. As such, don't feel discouraged, and try to recreate the article in light of this policy. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 03:10, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- If you wish to send me a message in the future, please do so at my talk page per John below. In any case, please realize that the deletion of the article has nothing to do with you personally or the subject of the page. The article was deleted because the article was written in such a manner that qualified as "blatant advertising," and as such, made it liable for deletion. I directed you to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view in order to illustrate for you that such advertising language cannot be included in Wikipedia. If you rewrite the article using neutral language, then it will have a better chance of being retained. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 03:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

- Again, please use my talk page at User talk:Sephiroth BCR to give me messages; creating new pages for that purpose is not the proper way to go about that, and I am informed whenever someone posts on my talk page, which is more conducive towards communication. In any case, having your edits reverted, while unfortunate in some cases, is part of the editing process here. It occurs whenever another editor has a disagreement with your edits. After this occurs, discussion is the mandated method to resolving such a thing. As such, don't be discouraged by any reverts that occur. Many of your more recent edits are a bit troubling, notably this edit. I must inform you that Wikipedia is not for advertising of any kind whatsoever. We're all here to create an objective and neutral encyclopedia, not cater to the interests of any specific group.
- Also, you have yet to establish the notability of your type of museum. Such notability can be asserted through the showing of verifiable, reliable sources independent of the topic matter. Ergo, if such a source provided critical commentary on your type of museum, then such an article (i.e. the Plastic brick article I deleted) would be valid for inclusion. As such, before attempting to submit your material into the mainspace, you can work on it in your userspace by creating user subpages. This can be done by creating an article at User:Clarity2199/Article name, with "Article name" being replaced by whatever you choose to name your user subpage. Feel free to create the Plastic brick article at your leisure in your userspace. Before you submit your material into the mainspace, however, I would recommend that you consult with me first so I can look at whether the subject of the article sufficiently meets Wikipedia's notability guideline.
- I realize this process may be frustrating for you, but I encourage you to continue trying. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for the editing process are learned over time. On a last note, given how connected you appear to be with the subject of the article (as you own a museum related to the subject), I caution you about Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy. If necessary, leaving this job to a third party editor to create the article may be advisable, but continue nevertheless if you see fit. Please note that promotion of any kind is not taken kindly and is not appropriate. Best regards, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 09:20, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
The confusion about the purpose of the Wikipedia goes beyond the categorization issue. You are also attempting to use the article on Museum to publish a redirecting URL to your blog (which in turn contains a reference to "... a cool item now on Wikipedia...The Bellaire Ohio Toy and Plastic Brick Museum!!!", linking back to the museum article). There is a separate article containing a List of museums, leading to further references about the coordinates of individual museums — of which none are contained in the museum article. I agree with Sephiroth BCR's advice about writing an encyclopedic article on plastic brick museums. In the meanwhile, please refrain from using the main museum article for publicizing your own personal initiative (something which Wikipedia policies fundamentally prohibit ). --Futhark|Talk 09:36, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome
Welcome to Wikipedia. To find out how to make useful contributions, take a look at the welcome page. To stay in Wikipedia, an article has to be about something notable, that is, of general interest. Click on Notability for an explanation of what that means. Also, it must give independently verifiable sources. Articles that don't meet these requirements are likely to be deleted. Follow the links below to learn more:
- To find out more about creating articles, read the Introduction and the Guide to creating your first article.
- You should not write articles about yourself, your band, or your best friend - that's a conflict of interest.
- Wikipedia is not an advertising service. Before writing about your own business, read Business' FAQ.
- For experiments, please use the sandbox.

[edit] If you want to send a message to user Sephiroth...
what you need to do is click on "converse" beside his user name in the paragraph above: that will take you to his talk page; read what it says at the top, then click on the "+" tab at the top of the page to get a form to enter a message for him. To help you, I will send to him the contents of the page you created by mistake with your question for him, and I expect he will reply to you here. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:03, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
