Talk:Claudia Schiffer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've done some major refactoring here; I don't think a lot of it belongs in this article, as it has nothing to do with Claudia Schiffer. (Indeed, the part I removed earlier to the Matthew Vaughn article does not have one word about Schiffer, and is in fact a mini-biography of Vaughn, which is why I put it there). Schiffer is not a blood relative of the Earldom of Oxford, Vaughn is. It is enough here to explain why she will not inherit the title. - Hephaestos|§ 14:49, 19 May 2004 (UTC)
- This is still no reason to delete this text. Also the text you've used to replace it with "Matthew Vaughn, an illegitimate son in the line of the Earldom of Oxford and Mortimer." is wrong. Neither he nor his father is in line of succession for this or any other title, as was clearly explained in the previous version of the text. I see absolutely no reason to delete this information. - Well, it's not about Claudia Schiffer, as Hephaestos said... Adam Bishop 20:33, 19 May 2004 (UTC)

- Yes, I'd like to try to reach some compromise on this article rather than getting involved in reversions. Why should this article, for example, link to The Man from U.N.C.L.E.? - Hephaestos|§ 22:57, 20 May 2004 (UTC)

- Why not? I can't see that it does the article any harm whatsoever. Does it? What I would say is that the article needs more information on Schiffer herself. But that is no reason to delete information on her husband. You said it amounts to a mini-biography. This sounds entirely appropriate, whilst the main article on Vaughn should be a fuller biography. - Why not? Because she was not in the show, she had nothing to do with the show, she was not even born yet when the show went off the air. Nor do I think people look up a biography on Claudia Schiffer expecting to read about some fellow who died in 1853 from whom she's not even descended. This seems fairly obvious to me. - Hephaestos|§ 20:21, 23 May 2004 (UTC)

- She's not descended but her husband is. The media reports about her becoming part of the British peerage were about her and you will find very few places other than Wikipedia which give a clear and consise explanation of why this was twaddle. It's important to explain this clearly. The problem is that there isn't enough information about Schiffer herself on this page. Rectify that rather than delete useful information. [edit] Gay Icon Project
In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:13, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Uptown Girl?
This Wiki claims Claudia Schiffer was the eponymous "Uptown Girl" in the Billy Joel video; it has always been my understanding that it was, in fact, Joel's then-wife Christie Brinkley.
Well -- It's not the Billy Joel video she was in, but a cover.
- Westlife redid the song and had her in the video.71.167.177.236 (talk) 03:37, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Weight
Does no-one really see how ackward it is to state the person's weight in an Encylopedia article? Is it at all a significant fact, that she's around 58kg? (Or was).

[edit] Notable TV guest appearances
I have restored this section in order to avoid possible edit-warring, as some users might disagree with the removing editor's rationale. Let's reach a consensus whether this section should be kept or not. Thx. --Catgut (talk) 21:59, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 700 covers not 500
FMD writes the following: "Claudia holds the record for appearing on the most magazine covers (over 700)." Spiegel once wrote over 600 a few years ago. Shouldn't we change the 500 to something in between these numbers? ► robomod 22:12, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
